Denver Weather Rollercoaster: Heavy Snow Blankets City Before 60-Degree Weekend Warm-Up

Winter Strikes Final Blow Before Spring Tease

Denver residents are buckling up for one last winter punch as 3-7 inches of snow targets the metro area Thursday night into Friday morning – followed by an unprecedented temperature swing that could break February records.

Commute Chaos Expected

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 5 PM Thursday through Friday morning. Key impacts:

  • Worst conditions: 3-7 PM Thursday with heavy snowfall rates
  • Peak accumulation: 7″ west of I-25, 5″ downtown Denver
  • Dangerous travel: Black ice likely as temps plunge to 20°F

“This storm will hit right during rush hour – we’re urging people to avoid non-essential travel after 3 PM Thursday,” said Denver7 meteorologist Stacey Donaldson.

From Snow Shovels to Short Sleeves

The mercury will climb dramatically once the storm passes:

Date High Temp Weather
Friday 42°F Sunny skies
Saturday 56°F Mostly clear
Sunday 60°F Partly cloudy
Monday 65°F Record warmth

Safety First Through Transition

  • Thursday PM: Install winter tires & check wiper fluid
  • Friday AM: Allow extra commute time – schools may delay
  • Weekend: Prepare for rapid snowmelt flooding risk
